Try Golden Coast Mead Beer

Referenced throughout history books and in ancient literature, mead – an alcoholic beverage comprised of honey and water – is making a comeback thanks to pop culture movements like Harry Potter and Game of Thrones, as well as revolutionary new meaderies like Golden Coast Mead in Oceanside. Breaking ground as the first mead-only producer in a town chock-full of breweries, co-founders Praveen Ramineni, Joseph Colangelo and Frank Golbeck have lofty aims to grow their mead empire as vast as the biggest breweries in town, like Stone Brewing in Escondido. Tasting like a combination of champagne, white wine, beer and honey all rolled into one, mead can take on unexpected flavor profiles including subtle hints of citrus or vanilla. Golden Coast Mead produces several varietals including Mirth in a Bottle, a semi-sweet mead with a hint of orange blossom honey wine, and California Oak, with hints of wildflower honey and American oak. Golden Coast Mead is available in stores throughout San Diego County, including Whole Foods Markets.
