Visit American Mill Complex Ruins, Strzeleczki, Poland

The American mill complex are the remains of a historic mill, a granary and a residential building with a bakery and a barn. It's located next to the village of Pisarzowice. The complex was built right next to the Osobłoga River , which joins the Oder 10 km away. The buildings were situated next to a 50 ha forest, which stretches between Pisarzowice and Łowkowice. The complex of industrial buildings was erected in the style of the early Florentine Renaissance, which makes them unique structures on a regional scale. The Mill building housed a water mill based on the power of Osobłoga with an alternative steam power source for times of low water levels. The mill is a 3-storey building with a body strongly closed with a prominent crowning cornice. The Granary building was erected on a rectangular block, four-storey, brick. The granary structure, similarly to the mill, is distinguished by its large space, regularity and harmony, which makes the building seem like an elegant and representative aristocratic building. The Resideential House is a two-storey building with a four-slope roof, a barn, a garden and a mechanical bakery that supplied bread to local residents. The building was inhabited by mill workers and people who took care of the order in the warehouses. They ate what they grew in their barn and in the field. The house was also maintained in the Renaissance style, which is why it forms one compact complex together with the rest of the buildings
