Visit Bickley Battery, Rottnest Island, Western Australia

Built in 1937 to protect Perth and the Port of Fremantle from attack. Fitted with 2 x 6in BL MkXI naval guns (from storage - removed from WW1 RAN cruisers).Fortification during WW2 included anti-aircraft defences, concrete emplacements, command and observation posts and night searchlights. Two mock guns and a dummy railway line was built from old sleepers.
