Visit Big Horn Station, Sonoran Desert National Monument, Arizona

Big Horn Station is a building ruin in Sonoran Desert National Monument, Sonoran Desert, Arizona. It's located 20 miles east of Gila Bend on Interstate 8. The gate is closed to access the road, but no lock prevented our access to the property. The Bender family established the station in the mid-1920s and became a stopping point for weary travelers between Casa Grande and Gila Bend on what once was Highway 84. Big Horn Station, four concrete block vault toilets and Farley’s Cabin, a historic wood, concrete and stone building. Site was restored in 2010/11.
