Here’s a bit of local trivia for you: What was the original name of Hoover Dam? (hint: the name of this city might have something to do with it.) That’s right! The Hoover Dam was originally called the Boulder Dam. And as you’ll be able to see from the names of many of Boulder City’s businesses (the reportedly haunted Boulder Dam Hotel, Boulder City/Hoover Dam Museum, etc.), that history continues to be important. Though the city is not without a sense of humor, hosting events such as “The Dam Short Film Festival” or the “That Dam Guy Stole My Dam Car” Race or even the “Get Off My Dam Lawn” gardening festival.
