Broken Top Loop Trail to Buffalo Cave, Craters of the Moon National Monument, Idaho
View Original Description
Buffalo Cave is located in Craters of the Moon National Monument, Idaho. The 1.8 miles (2.9 km) Broken Top loop trail encircles the youngest cinder cone in the monument and can be done separately or as part of a longer trek on the Wilderness trail.
Sections of this cave may be entered, however, ceilings are low and collapses have led to closure of part of the cave. Enter using caution. For your safety while exploring the cave, do not go beyond warning signs.
Note: A Cave Permit is required before entering any cave on National Park Service lands. Obtain a permit at the Entrance Station, or the Visitor Center, to enter Indian Tunnel, Dew Drop, Beauty, Boy Scout or Buffalo Caves. All other caves are closed to recreational caving.
