Visit Cast Away Crossroads, Mobeetie, Texas

Visit the spot where the final scene of the beloved Tom Hanks Cast Away movie was filmed. It is truely out in the middle of nowhere. There areno markers or any thing to indicate you found it. It's at the intersection of FM 5, FM 48 and FM 1268. If you've seen the film, you may remember that Tom has just delivered a Fedex package to a lonesome house in the middle of nowhere and is standing at a crossroads (obvious symbolism) trying to decide which direction to go. A beautiful Texas lady in an old pickup truck drives up and the following dialogue ensues: Bettina Peterson: You look lost. Chuck Noland/Tom Hanks: I do? Bettina Peterson: Where're you headed? Chuck Noland: Well, I was just about to figure that out. Bettina then points to each direction, telling Noland where each will take him. Bettina Peterson: Well, that's 83 South. And this road here will hook you up with I-40 East. If you turn right, that'll take you to Amarillo, Flagstaff, California. And if you head back that direction, you'll find a whole lot of nothing all the way to Canada. Chuck Noland: I got it. Bettina Peterson: All right, then. Good luck, cowboy. Chuck Noland: Thank you. Then Bettina drives away and on the back of her truck is the angel wings symbol that he had just seen when he delivered the package to her ranch house. Don’t go to the ranch house.
