Visit Conch Island, Anegada Island, BVI
Some of the conch shells extracted from these middens or Conch Islands located around Anegada provided a radio carbon date of AD 1245 ± 80! Over the next 800 years, the piles gradually evolved into one of the world’s most serene and beautiful garbage dumps.
Walk around the “island” with some good shoes. It's interesting to see the many layers of conch, each layer showing more age than the other.
