Visit Coronado South Beach (Stan's Beach), Coronado, California

Coronado's South Beach begins at the cul-de-sac at the end of Avenida Del Sol and stretches southward to the fence line of the Naval Special Warfare Command Complex. Also nicknamed Stan's Beach after Coronado surf coach Stan Searfus who passed away in 2018 while surfing off Point Loma. The beach has also been called Shipwreck Beach. The wreckage of the SS Monte Carlo is visible when tides are low enough. Lifeguards are seasonal and public restrooms are not available. SURFING ONLY (Memorial Day to Labor Day - 11am-6pm) south of lifeguard tower 1C. SWIMMING ONLY (Memorial Day to Labor Day - 11am-6pm) north of lifeguard tower 1C. No hard boards. Permits for beach events may be obtained by submitting the above Park and Beach Application. Be aware of Stingrays - espcially in the summer. When entering water shuffle your feet in the sand to lura them away.
