Desert Center, California
View Original Description
Desert Center is basically a ghost town in southern California, between the cities of Indio and Blythe at the junction of Interstate 10 and State Route 177, about halfway between Phoenix and Los Angeles.
Today, the town barely survives. The United States Post Office is the only remaining business. The nearest gasoline and fast food are at Chiriaco Summit, over 19 miles away.
Lake Tamarisk is a community about one and three quarter miles north of Interstate 10 off Kaiser Road.
