The nature center at Devil's Lake is home to a three-dimensional landform model of the park that will provide you with a bird's-eye view of the park. There are live Wisconsin reptile and amphibian displays as well as several hands-on displays and items for children. Check out the geology and ice age displays to learn how Devil's Lake was formed. The downstairs area of the nature center houses many historic photographs dating from the late 1800s well into the 20th century. Children will enjoy the kid's exploration room with puzzles, activities and mystery boxes. During the summer, nature programs are scheduled most days at 10:30 a.m. Program themes include snakes, skulls, worms, stories, rocks, spiders, Indian mounds, beetles, bird watching, bats, plants, geology. Most programs are appropriate for families and all ages. Evening programs are presented most Saturday nights in either the Northern Lights Amphitheater or at the Nature Center. See the Get Outdoors! Events Calendar for a list of all nature programs and events. Schedules and nature center hours also are posted on bulletin boards throughout the park, at the nature center and at the park offices. If you're planning a visit in which attending a nature program or visiting the nature center is crucial, please call ahead to find out the latest program schedule and to confirm that the nature center will be open that day.
