Visit El Cuervo Adobe Ruin, Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve, San Diego, California

The El Cuervo adobe ruins is a great hidden corner of San Diego. It's located in the Peñasquitos Canyon, which was the site of the first Mexican land grant in California, granted to Francisco de Maria Ruíz in 1823. Ruiz requested additional land for cattle grazing, and received more land to the west, called El Cuervo, in 1834. The Ruiz family built an adobe home on this land. Part of the house still stands today! From the trail head at the end of Park Village Road, it's about a three mile hike west to the ruins.
