Visit Ermita Virgen de la Candelaria, Punta del Este, Uruguay
Our Lady of Candelaria is the patron virgin of Punta del Este. On February 2, 1982, the first hermitage was built, which was remodeled a few times. It is believed that it was the place where the discoverers gave the first mass when Juan Díaz de Solís arrived at the Río de la Plata on February 2, 1516.
Do not confuse the hermitage with the Parroquia Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria that is located in front of the Punta del Este lighthouse.
