Espevær Village & Lobster Park, Norway
View Original Description
The biggest lobster park in Norway, built in 1887, restored in 1993 and now a museum. It was screated to take care of living lobsters until the time of year when the demand and price were highest. Museum is open during the summer (end of June to mid Ausgust).
Espevær is a pittoresque village built on small islets that does no have any cars. A small cable ferry is used to access to town.
One of the biggest tourist attractions on the island is the UFO ring. In 1975, a large, oval circle unexpectedly appeared on a field in Espevær. Some mushroom pickers discovered the ring on 7 October 1975. At the place where the islanders celebrate St. Hans, there was suddenly a large egg-shaped circle. It was 26 meters long, 14 meters wide and 63 meters in circumference. In the 30cm wide track, the grass was flat but alive, while the grass both inside and outside the ring stood as normal. It was established that if the ring was made with mechanical influence, the object in question must have weighed more than 50 tonnes. The ring is still clearly visible but the mystery of what caused it remains unsolved.
