Visit Fairbanks, Alaska

Fairbanks is the 2nd most populous city in the State of Alaska in the U.S.A. The city is located near the confluence of 2 rivers, the Tanana and Chena. It has its origins as a trading post serving gold prospectors and river boats in the early 1900’s. Today, Fairbanks provides an important role in the supply chain to the Arctic region and the North Slope oil fields. Often referred to as the “Golden Heart” city, Fairbanks offers visitors river cruises on the paddlewheel riverboat “Discovery”, museums and tours focused on its gold mining history and excursions to Alaska Land - Pioneer Park to see the recreated gold rush town which can include an Alaska Salmon Bake, an all you can eat feast of fresh salmon, beef and other delectable local items. A visit to Creamer’s Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge provides excellent bird watching and wildlife viewing and miles of trails for hiking and biking is another popular excursion. The nearby White Mountains afford opportunities for skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling. There are a number of hot springs in the area that provide spa activities and accommodations.
