Visit Hanalei Town, Kauai, Hawaii
The beautiful little of Hanalei is a on the north coast of Kauai just west of Princeville. The beach at Hanalei Bay was selected No. 1 on "Dr. Beach" Stephen Leatherman's 2009 list of top 10 beaches.
The pier at Hanalei is very important to the culture of the town and is used for fishing, as well as social and musical gatherings. The pier was featured in the musical, South Pacific.
Hanalei means "lei making" in Hawaiian. Alternatively, the name Hanalei also means "crescent bay" and may be indicative of the shape of Hanalei Bay.
Make sure to visit some of Hanalei’s art galleries to see Kauai art and carvings made from rare, native Hawaiian woods.
