Hanapēpē is a town on the island of Kauai, Hawaii located on the south shore west of Koloa. Hanapepe Town use to be one of Kauai's largest towns when from World War I to the early 1950s, the town was swarming with G.I.’s and sailors training in the Pacific Theater.
The towns historic plantation style buildings are home to charming shops, resturants and more art galleries than any other town on Kauai. Take a stroll across the “Hanapēpē Swinging Bridge” for a little adventure.
Every Friday evening from 6-9pm Hanapēpē Town has Friday Night Art Walk which celebrates its painters, sculptors and craftsmen, who open the doors of their galleries and studios to celebrate the arts.
The town was the inspiration for the hometown of the main characters in the Disney animated film Lilo & Stitch.
