Storied 1721 tomb of a local seafarer, set on a scenic tidal island near the notable Portelet Tower.
Built in 1808 in the Napoleonic Wars, Portelet Tower is one of eight Martello Towers built in Jersey in 1808–14 and 1834-37. In WWII the German’s adapted some of them for their own purposes. Portelet Tower (also called Janvrin’s Tower) was armed with an 18pdr carronade on the top platform.
