Jaskinia Olsztyńska (All Saints Cave), Sokole Mountains, Poland
View Original Description
The Olsztyn Cave System, also the Olsztyn and All Saints Caves and the Pustelnica System, is a karst cave on the northwestern slope of Pustelnica Hill in the Sokole Mountains in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. The cave took its name from the nearby town of Olsztyn in the Silesian Voivodeship, Częstochowa County, approximately 15 km southeast of Częstochowa. It consists of four caves, which were formerly considered separate, but as a result of cavers' exploration , it turned out that they form one cave system
Together with the All Saints Cave, with which it forms a common system, it is 224 meters long. The final chamber of the Olsztyn Cave is connected by an inaccessible gap with the Eastern Shelter, which is an extension of the main cave route.
The system has 4 openings, and it has been vocally confirmed that it is also connected with the Basieta Cave. Opening no. 1 is a semicircular opening of the Olsztyn Cave. It is 3 m wide and 1.7 m high. Drillings after explosive charges show that it was enlarged during the exploitation of spar .5 m to the east of it, between the rocks, there is another, small opening, often covered with leaves. Opening no. 3 is a diagonal gap, 6 m wide and 0.3–1.4 m high. Opening no. 4 (in the Eastern Shelter) is a vertical well, 9 m deep. Its initial part is kidney-shaped and measures 1.5 × 2.2 m
