Visit Koonalda Homestead, Nullarbor Plain, South Australia
A stop at Koonalda Homestead is worth checking out all the old cars and shearing shed. Great piece of history and a nice place to camp for the night with beautiful stars.
The homestead is off the Eyre Hwy, 100 km west of the Nullarbor Roadhouse and 90 km east of Border Village. The old homestead and outbuildings are built mainly from sleepers from the Indian Pacific railway.Many vehicles having traversed the old Eyre Highway, which at the time was little more than a dirt track, arrived at the station mortally wounded and never moved on.
Koonalda cave is nearby. Road ccan get pretty bumpy but not too bad.
