Tour & Eat at La Estación de Oficios El Porvenir (a.k.a. La Escuelita), Valle De Guadalupe, Baja California

La Escuelita is a wine school and outdoor restaurant located in El Porvenir, Valle de Guadalupe. Mexico’s wine guru Hugo d’Acosta created the nonprofit La Escuelita in 2004. The school is managed by Thomas Egli, a swiss enologist, who annually selects a small group of students and teaches wine making techniques. Chef Daniel Monarrez’s menu includes burritos de jaiba (crab burritos), a delightful platter of local cheeses with house made cranberry-walnut honey, and the most delicious homemade basil ice cream. Other things available for purchase are locally made olive oils, wines, house-brewed beers, coffee, and other gourmet food items. Its buildings and architecture were born on the old olive plant in the village. Its facilities are sustainable, where industrial recycling materials were involved in the construction process. Tours of La Escuelita are by appointment only. To find out more about the school, email info@estacionporvenir.org.
