View Original Description
Landlyst Museum is one of the oldest buildings in Vestmannaeyjar. It was built in 1848 by joiner Matthías Markússon and his wife Sólveig Pálsdóttir, who was a midwife. The house became protected in 1990 and was subsequently dismantled to be preserved and restored. In 2000, it was rebuilt and moved to Skansinn, where it stands in its original form. It is now open as a medical museum.
