Visit Leapers Hill (Carib's Leap), Sauteurs, Grenada
In 1651 defeated and in retreat the last of the Caribs decided to leap to their death rather than surrender to the French. Today there is a small memorial on the cliff top commemorating their decision. This monument is bizarrely shaped as a Christian cross ... symbolic of the western influence the Caribs were trying to resist.
