Marine Peilstand 1 Tower (MP1), Battery Lotheringen, Le Chemin de Noirmont, Jersey
View Original Description
Marine Pielstand 1 at Battery Lotheringen, NoirmontPoint, Jersey, Channel Islands. Following the German invasion and subsequent occupation of the Channel Islands in 1940, an extensive number of defensive bunkers was constructed by slave labour as part of Hitler’s Atlantic Wall to combat the expected Allied invasion of Europe but in the event the guns on the Channel Islands were never used and they were surrendered peacefully on 9 – 16 May 1945.
Marine Pielstand 1 was an observation/spotting tower for guns which were in a nearby battery. It now has a coastguard position on the roof.
