This small country on the Adriatic Sea is rich in culture, natural beauty, and history. It is considered part of the Balkans and the Mediterranean and is Iocated near Albania, Kosovo, Seriba, Bosnia, and Croatia. Montenegro’s delightful Velika Plaza is eight miles of soft white beach. The waves along this shore and breezy weather are attracting kite surfers and wind surfers from around the globe. If the beach isn’t your scene, then be sure to check out Skadar Lake National Park. It has one of the largest bird reservations in Europe, which is also home to a habitat of pelicans. You can walk along the shore or go for a boat ride on the lake. Either way this is one of Montenegro’s must-see spots. Perhaps one of Montenegro’s most enchanting spots is Sveti Stefan (St. Stephen), which is about a 15-minute drive from Budva. The island once acted as a way to protect Montenegro, but now its windy streets, old cannon openings along the walls, and town squares all add to the picturesque romance of this island getaway. In the past few years Montenegro has been attracting a lot more visitors and as a result, it has been undergoing a bit of a transformation with old hotels being renovated and new ones being built. Not to worry, none of the country’s charm has been sacrificed.
