Where else but "Jet City" for the largest air and space museum in the world? It's attained lofty staus since opening in 1965 - with its Great Gallery and original Boeing "Red Barn." The museum is host to over 175 aircrafts and spacecrafts, and thousands of artifacts and photos, creating an exciting environment for visitors of all ages.
The idea for the Museum of flight began in 1964 when a small group of aviation enthusiasts wanted to preserve and share the history and evolution of flight. The first exhibits opened in 1965 at the Seattle Center, home of the 1962 World's Fair. in 1875, the museum acquired a lease through the Port of Seattle for the Boing "Red Barn," saving it from demolition. In 1983, the Red Barn became the official location of the Museum of Flight and it still resides there today.
