Visit Pangkor Island, Malaysia

Pulau Pangkor is an island off the coast of Perak in north-west peninsular Malaysia. Feel free to walk or cycle around the island, measuring 3 square miles (8 square km). Pangkor is famous for its fine beaches. Visit Teluk Nipah, one of the most picturesque beaches on the island, and spot colorful corals and vibrant fish in the water. The island is reached by ferry either from the old jetty or from Marina Island jetty both located in Lumut (a small coastal town that links to Ipoh through Sitiawan). The island is heavily promoted as a low-key tourist destination by the Malaysian government, but fishing and fish products remain major industries. Of all the Pangkor beaches, Teluk Nipah or Nipah Bay is the most popular with foreign travelers, although it is still predominantly Malaysians who frequent this area.
