See Puerta de Hayu Marca (Gate of the Gods), Peru

A large strange door-like structure can be found in the Hayu Marca mountain region of Southern Peru located near Lake Titicaca, 35 kilometres from the city of Puno. The Indians within the area tell stories that it is the "City of the Gods". The area is known as the "Valley of the Spirits". The door which is referred to as the "Puerta de Hayu Marca" (Gate of the Gods) is a very large carving that measures 23 feet in height as well as width. It also has a smaller doorway within the large door which is close to 6 feet in height. The local native Indians of the region had an old legend that spoke of "a gateway to the lands of the Gods", and in this legend, it was said that in times very long ago, past great heroes had gone to join their gods. They passed through this gate for a glorious new life of immortality, and on rare occasions those men returned for a short time with their gods to "inspect all the lands in the kingdom" through the gate.
