Pfeiffer Beach is located in the heart of Big Sur, California and is a beautiful unspoiled beach and a great place for photography. Pfeiffer Beach has unusual purple sand from manganese garnet particles washing down the hillside. Make sure to stay for the sunset if you have the time.
The beach is a popular with locals and somewhat unknown among tourists.
The road down to the beach is long narrow and winding but the trip down is worth it. There is a short walk to the beach car park and there is an entrance fee of $5 per vehicle. Pfeiffer Beach is a Day Use Area, no overnight camping. Hours 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM 7 days a week.
