Visit Plage La Française, Fort-de-France, Martinique
La Francaise beach (Plage de la Francaise) is located in downtown Fort de France, the capital of the Caribbean island of Martinique.
The beach is across the street from La Savane, the downtown park.
Rising above the beach is Fort Saint-Louis. Forts have occupied the site since 1638. Fort Saint-Louis is an active fort. When nearby, you can hear the soldiers as they drill inside.
The beach and fort are just a short walk from the cruise pier.
