Pluckley is near Ashford in Kent and is often described as the most haunted village in England. The village is said to be frequented by at least a dozen ghosts.
Pluckley had an entry in the 1989 Guinness Book of Records for being "the most haunted village in Britain", but the category is no longer in use by Guinness.
Atractions include Fright Corner, where a highwayman met his untimely demise, being killed with a sword, pinning him to a hollow oak tree that once stood in this area. In the Screaming Woods it is rumoured you can still hear the chilling cries of the dead. The Dering Arms is one of the Haunted Pubs of Pluckley.
Pluckley is a village in Kent, England. It is located close to the North Downs, and is approximately 5 miles (8 km) west of Ashford. The village is approximately 5 miles (8 km) from the nearest junction of the M20 motorway, is served by Pluckley railway station, about 1.25 miles (2 km) to the south and lies on the long distance walking route, the Greensand Way and close to the Stour Valley Walk.
Many of Pluckley's residents have become fed up with its ghoulish reputation, however, and the hordes of ghost-hunters that flock here every Hallowe'en. There is a increased of police around Halloween due to the large number of visitors.
