The Powell Memorial at the Powell Point viewpoint commemorates the 1869 and 1871-72 exploratory trips down the Colorado River by Major John Wesley Powell and expedition crews. Stunning vistas can also be enjoyed from Powell Point. Powell Memorial monument is a masonry structure that is about 20 ft square and 20 feet tall, with an observation desk and a large bronze commemorative plaque on the upper level. The monument is on the edge of the canyon.
It is located along Hermit Road on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park.
Hopi Point is located 0.3 miles (0.5 km) west from here on a dirt trail.
Maricopa Point is located 0.5 miles (0.8 km) east from here to on dirt and then paved trail
