Visit Puako Petroglyph Archaeological Preserve, Big Island, Hawaii

Puako Petroglyph Archaeological Preserve is along the Kohala Coast on the Big Island of Hawaii. The preserve features features over a thousand petroglyphs, lava rock carvings etched into stone centuries ago by Native Hawaiians. There are carvings of turtles, human forms, canoes, and others. It is just a short distance from the Fairmont Orchid Hawaii, Holoholokai Beach and the Mauna Lani Resort.
