Visit
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
View Original Description
This coastal Brazilian city is home to mile long beaches, the Christ Redeemer statue (now considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World), the luxurious Copacabana Palace Hotel, and the world famous Carnival festival. In the coming years, Rio de Janeiro will also be known for two more things: host of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Although the beaches in Rio can be one of the main reasons people visit, they don’t always offer the most relaxing experience. Instead, the beaches in Rio can be more like Times Square, with throngs of people gossiping, playing soccer, and selling goods. If you want to really relax, stay in a good Ipanema hotel that has a rooftop pool. There you'll enjoy spectacular views of both the beach and Sugarloaf Mountain.
