Visit San Evaristo, Baja California Sur, Mexico

San Evaristo is a little village of 15 families and between 80 and 100 people. It's at the northern end of the coastal road north from La Paz, Baja California Sur. It's approx 45.5 miles on a dirt road from La Paz. It's 3-4-1/2 hour ride from the Hwy 1 Y that is north of La Paz. There is no electricity, no telephone, so villagers needed to climb a fairly high hill to even have cell service. There is a small min-super but nothing refigerators - so no beer... San Evaristo is a tiny gateway to some great snorkeling and diving. Dolphins, turtles, sting rays, humpback whales, schools of big, colorful fish, eels, octopus and many more can be seen. San Evaristo is also home to the Barbarita family, whose various members run Barbarita Tours, taking visitors out on camping, hiking and snorkel adventures in San Evaristo and the surrounding islands including Isla San Jose, Isla San Francisco, San Pardito and more. There is a nice cove north of town for an anchorage. There is a large salt processing plant just north of town.
