Santa Fe, New Mexico is a mecca to the art world. The Santa Fe Opera is staged for 6 weeks every summer in a partially “open air” theater providing a view of the Jemez Mountains as backdrop to the wonderful stage productions. Santa Fe, officially nicknamed “The City Different” is one of the oldest cities in the United States. A large part of its charm and character may be found in its architecture and housing styles displaying high walled adobe structures neatly stacked along narrow winding streets with the city laid out around the central Plaza. The city is also home to many art galleries displaying everything from Native American art work to modern art. The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum is maintained in Santa Fe, devoted to preserving her work and other artists she influenced.
