Visit Siem Reap, Cambodia

Siem Reap, in northwest Cambodia, is the capital city of the region and the gateway to the historically significant Angkor Archaeological Park. Siem Reap has developed a large tourism industry and boasts modern hotels and attractions in the city proper in addition its role as the main point of access to Angkor. Within the city favorites of tourists include tours of the Angkor National Museum, proudly introducing patrons to the Khmer culture, an impressive display of 1,000 Buddhas and exhibits relative to the history of the Angkor complex. The real star of a visit to Siem Reap is the Angkor Archaeological Park, one of the most important archaeological sites in all of Southeast Asia. The Temples at Angkor Wat and Bayon are must-see examples of the remains of the Khmer Empire with relics dating back 1,500 years.
