Skeleton Point is 3 miles (4.7 km) down the South Kaibab Trail in the Grand Canyon National Park. The point offers follows a 360-degree views of the canyon from the top of the redwall formation at an elevation of 5,200 ft. (1,591 m.). This is the first view of Colorado River on the South Kaibab Trail.
Beyond Cedar Ridge the trail traverses below O'Neill Butte without a single switchback to Skeleton Point. This stretch is called, Mormon Flat.
Watch for the Skeleton Point trail sign by the second hitching rail located after flat stretch (Mormon Flat) Steeper switchbacks continue past the hitching rail. No water is available along this trail. Do not go past this point as a day hike.
