Visit St Thomas Point, Lake Mead, Nevada

St. Thomas Point is located on the Overton arm of Lake Mead, Nevada. Just turn east off Northshore Rd (Hwy 169) onto the dirt road, Old Saint Thomas Rd. From the parking area, you can see all the ruins of the town below and take a dirt trail down if you’d like. Park entrance is $10 per vehicle. TIPS: Bring a hat! There is no shade on the trail. A little about St. Thomas: In the late 1920s, residents of St. Thomas were told they would have to relocate upon completion of the Boulder Dam (now Hoover Dam), and were reimbursed for their property by the government. The last resident paddled from his home in 1938 as the waters of Lake Mead rose in around him. At the lake’s highest water mark, St. Thomas was 60 feet below the surface. Now it has reemerged as a ghost town.
