Stintino, Sardinia
View Original Description
The small Sardinian coastal resort of Stintino, Italy is located on the north west peninsular of Sardinia and is some 50 km north of Alghero (200 km north of Cagliari). It is a popular seaside resort and is provided with three tourist ports: Porto Mannu (with 300 boat places), Marina di Stintino (160 boat places) and Porto Minore (110 boat places).
The town is mainly residential streets sandwiched between the two harbors (Porto Nuovo to the north and Porto Vecchio to the south) that were built on two natural inlets. Most of the towns activities happen on these harbors and as you can guess the restaurants in Stintino are well known for their seafood.
Stintino is located on the peninsula of the same name, running from Nurra plain to the Asinara Island, part of the Asinara National Park, for which Stintino is the nearer embarkment place.
Capo Falcone is around 4 km north of Stintino and the area along the way is dotted with hotels and villas. Going south of the cape the landscape turns to rugged cliffs towering up to 50m above the sea.
Travel time to the town by car from Alghero is approximately one hour.
