Te Ātea - Tapuaeharuru, where Taupō township meets the lakefront. 13 pou (poles) surround the area representing the 13 rivers/tributaries that flow into Lake Taupō. In the centre, one large pou, carved from a 2000-year-old totara tree, representing nature, the cycle of life, family and a connection with everything above and below.
