Visit Temple of Santa Rosa de Viterbo, Santiago de Querétaro, Mexico

The Temple of Santa Rosa de Viterbo is a building for Catholic worship, located in Santiago de Querétaro, capital of the state of Querétaro, in honor of Santa Rosa de Viterbo (1233–1252), an Italian saint and virgin belonging to the Third Order of Saint Francis. It is an example of Mexican viceregal baroque. Its construction took place in the late 17th  and early 18th centuries. It was the work of the Queretaro architect Francisco Martínez and also of the architect and sculptor Ignacio Mariano de las Casas, which is considered their masterpiece. Most of the temple, the lines, the clock on the tower, are the work of Ignacio Mariano de las Casas. It is an architectural treasure capable of pleasing the most critical spirits. With a history spanning three centuries, this temple houses five Baroque- style altarpieces, all painted in the  18th century by Ignacio Mariano de las Casas. Each altarpiece is adorned with sinuous plant forms, crowns, and angels in different positions, as it is not made of stone and is dedicated to different saints.
