Territorio de Zaguates (Land of the Strays) is one of the world's greatest dog sanctuaries. It's absolutely worth a spot on your bucket list - it's a dog lovers paradise.It's located on a small farm in Costa Rica, where hundreds of canines run wild over the land.
The mission is to find a home for all dogs that are in thier care. They offer a temporary home for hundreds of dogs looking for a second chance, and also provide permanent home ofothers who may never find their own family. Zaguates territory is a nonprofit organization founded by husbands and Alvaro Saumet Lya Battle, who for 8 years and have dedicated themselves to promote animal welfare and respect for animals.
Visitors are encouraged to hike the scenic trails with the dogs, creating a joyful, chaotic parade of wagging tails and excited paws. The experience is not only therapeutic for the animals but unforgettable for the people, who often find themselves bonding with a future companion during these walks.
