Visit The Robbins House, Concord, Massachusetts

The Robbins House is a 544 sq. ft. historic early 19th century house built by the first generation of descendants of formerly enslaved African American Revolutionary War veteran Caesar Robbins, and by fugitive slave Jack Garrison. It is a great example of Concord's 19th century African American History. The house was originally located on the edge of Great Meadows in Concord, where self-emancipated Africans and their families settled. It's is now found across the street from Minute Man National Historical Park in Concord. The stories of the occupants of The Robbins House reveal the ways in which the first generations of free Concord African Americans pursued independence and contributed to the antislavery movement and abolitionist causes.
