The Victoria Albert Battery, Port Royal, Jamaica
View Original Description
The Victoria and Albert Battery in Gibraltar was an artillery battery constructed in the late 19th century to house a 100-ton gun. It was part of a larger fortification project that included Napier of Magdala Battery. While the battery was completed, the 100-ton gun experienced issues, including barrel cracking during testing, and was eventually moved to Napier Battery. The site later saw the construction of a fire station and parts of the original underground works still exist.
