Visit Trøndelag Folk Museum (Sverresborg), Trondheim, Norway

The Trøndelag Folk Museum, popularly called Sverresborg, is a large open-air museum in Trondheim, Norway, devoted to history and culture. In recent years it has also included large indoor exhibitions. It also includes a large collection of archival material and photographs . The 60 buildings within the museum date from different periods and from different places in Norway, mainly in the Trøndelag region. The oldest building is the stave church in Haltdalen , a stave church from the 12th century  ; the majority are buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries , including farm buildings, town houses and Lappish huts ( goahti). The Trøndelag Folk Museum was officially founded in 1913 (after four years of collecting old buildings), and in 1914 it moved to Sverresborg, the area of ​​Trondheim close to the ruins of King Sverre 's fortress . The area of ​​the museum in 2008 was 15 hectares. It also administers the Meldal Rural Museum , the Trondheim Shipping Museum and the Norwegian Museum of the Deaf.
