Visit United Nations Building, Balboa Park, San Diego, California

The United Nations Building houses the United Nations Association of San Diego (UNA-SD), the Eleanor Roosevelt Global Classroom, and the International Gift Shop. In 1956, Eleanor Roosevelt requested that the San Diego City Council grant the newly formed UNA-SD the permanent use of the Park's U.N. Building for educational and administrative purposes. The International Gift Shop provides financial support through the sale of unique world handicrafts including jewelry, books, toys and world music. Shop the world, promote the work of the United Nations, and pick up unique gifts at the United Nations International Gift Shop. The store features distinctive, handcrafted items from countries in Africa, Latin America, Europe, and Asia, including African instruments and artifacts, Polish hand-carved boxes, Russian nesting dolls (Matreshkas), ethnic clothing and jewelry, music, an international selection of books for young and old, as well as country flags, decals, patches, and pins. Even more importantly, by shopping at the United Nations International Gift Shop, you support the peaceful coexistence and cooperation among all peoples of the world.
