Volunteer at a Big Cat Reserve

Big Cat Preserves are not zoos; they’re sanctuaries where the animals come first in the eyes of the operators. They exist to provide shelter and habitat for exotic animals that have been abused, neglected or abandoned by those unable or unwilling to care for the magnificent animals after they have been removed from the wild and most likely no longer possessive of the survival skills needed in their natural habitat. The goal of many of the preserves scattered around the world is to educate the public about conservation of the Earth’s diverse ecosystem. A number of the Big Cat Preserves welcome and depend on volunteers to work alongside experienced handlers in their efforts to manage captive wildlife as well as assist in a number of areas associated with the operations of the preserves such as construction, performing arts, web management, business relations, graphic design, research, fund raising and general labor. Satisfy your dream of spending time with exotic animals on a Big Cat Preserve by finding one in your area or where you intend to travel and volunteering to help in any way you are able.
