Walk across U Pain (U Bain) Bridge, Myanmar (Burma)

The U Pain Bridge (U Bain bridge) was built over 2000 years ago in Mandalay, Myanmar (Burma). At 3/4-mile-long it's the longest teak bridge in the world. The bridge connects people on the opposite banks of Taungthaman Lake. It's 15 feet high and has more than 1,000 wooden posts with roughly four or five feet between each to hold it up. The best time to travel to U Bain Bridge (U Pain Bridge) is in the afternoon. The view of sunset from and around the bridge is perhaps the most beautiful scene around Mandalay. The bridge was built by the mayor U Bein by salvaging the unwanted teak columns from the old palace during the move to Mandalay.
