Walk Rue Obscure (Villefranche-sur-Mer), France
Rue Obscure ("Dark Street") in Villefranche-sur-Mer, France. The street dates from the 13th Century and was originally open to the the sky. At some point, an enterprising person decided that he could enlarge his house by extending the upper levels over the street. Others soon followed, covering most of a 400 foot long section of the street. Villefranche-sur-Mer is a small town which adjoins Nice on the French Riviera. The town sits on a natural harbor and has been inhabited since the time of the Greeks.
